For 30 years, Alberta Women Entrepreneurs has been a catalyst for economic growth, driving a $400 million impact on Alberta’s economy and empowering thousands of women entrepreneurs. Our success is built on the dedication of our team, the strength of our partnerships, and the vision of our leadership.

After 16 years of dedicated service, including nine years as CEO, Marcela Mandeville has announced her decision to step down to pursue new opportunities and adventures.

Under Marcela Mandeville’s leadership, AWE has expanded its reach, increased access to capital for thousands of women, and introduced innovative programs that have transformed the entrepreneurial landscape for women in Alberta. We are incredibly proud to have worked alongside Marcela and deeply grateful for her commitment, visionary leadership, and passion for empowering women entrepreneurs.

During her tenure, AWE achieved remarkable milestones, including facilitating $29 million in lending, launching Bold Leadership, Strategic Edge, PeerSpark, and Excelerator, and supporting over 1,200 Indigenous women through NextStep to Success.

Marcela also spearheaded market expansion initiatives, generating $91 million in leads and securing $57 million in contracts, while advocating for policy changes to strengthen support for women entrepreneurs. Under her leadership, AWE tripled its revenue, launched the AWE Network and Connect events, and strengthened our collaborations at a national level. Her vision and dedication have left a lasting legacy of growth, resilience, and impact that will continue to shape AWE into the future.

As we embark on the search for AWE’s next CEO, we are pleased to announce that Lynette Tremblay will step into the role of Interim CEO. A long-time AWE board member and successful entrepreneur, Lynette brings extensive expertise in international business, marketing, and strategy.

With a deep commitment to AWE’s mission, Lynette will work closely with our team, partners, and incoming CEO to strengthen support for women entrepreneurs, foster new opportunities, and drive lasting economic impact.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Marcela for her thoughtful leadership and valuable contributions. We wish her the best and look forward to a new chapter for AWE.
